Properties before pretty charts

Teams often ask for a new dashboard when the real problem is missing or inconsistent properties. Plan, surface, and cohort fields decide whether two events can be compared at all.
Write properties into the dictionary with the same care as event names. If engineering cannot find the field definition, the chart will invent one.
In Path Diagnostics we frequently find correct event names attached to empty or overloaded property bags. Fixing that layer usually unlocks more truth than adding another visualisation.
Keep a short allowed list. Every new property should answer a decision question—or it waits.
